Spatio鄄temporal Evolution of China蒺s Logistics Industry Efficiency

Abstract: The logistics industry is an important part of economic development. Its development level and efficiency im鄄
provement play an important role in the healthy and stable development of the national economy. Based on the Chinese provincial
panel data during the years from 2007 to 2016, this paper uses the directional distance function model to calculate the efficiency
of logistics industry in various regions of China. The exploratory spatial data analysis method and standard deviation ellipse are
used to study the spatial correlation and spatial difference of China蒺s logistics industry development. The results show that the effi鄄
ciency of China蒺s logistics industry has shown a downward trend during the observation year; the regional differences in logistics
efficiency are obvious, with the east being slightly higher than the central and the lowest in the west; China蒺s provincial logistics
efficiency presents a significant spatial positive correlation, and the correlation is gradually enhanced, and provinces and cities
with similar logistics efficiency are spatially clustered; the spatial difference of China蒺s logistics development mainly exists in the
east - west direction; the development of the logistics industry in the western region and the gap between the central and eastern
regions have gradually widened, and its development focus has experienced a trajectory of moving westward and then eastward.
Based on the above conclusions, this article gives suggestions from three aspects: cultivating the growth of the logistics industry,
optimizing spatial layout, and developing linkages with other industries, with a view to promoting the efficient and coordinated de鄄
velopment of China蒺s provincial logistics.
