Blockchain: Application Innovation in Tourism
Industry and Future Development

Abstract: Blockchain has been one of the transformative technologies with the greatest potential for development in recent
years. Its disruptive impact on the global economy and specific industry has been widely recognized, but its application in tourism
is still in its infancy. Based on the core and characteristics of blockchain technology, this paper summarizes current situation of
the application of blockchain technology in tourism industry, and finds that blockchain has made a breakthrough progress in the
construction of smart tourism city, digital currency payment, accommodation industry management, etc. Combined with the rela鄄
tive literature review at home and abroad, further study finds that the main driving force for the application of blockchain technol鄄
ogy in tourism stems from the practical need for enterprise operation security, tourist privacy protection, transaction fraud preven鄄
tion and industrial management optimization. Meanwhile, it also finds the main impediment to the popularization of blockchain
technology including the technology not mature, lack of supervision and legal binding, safety hazard, etc. With the development
of shared economy, the application potential of blockchain technology in tourism industry management, file and information man鄄
agement, payment management, supply chain management, tourist identification verification, tourism intermediary organization
management, credit management, customer loyalty management, etc. will revolutionize the business model of traditional tourism.
Therefore, it proposes to strengthen the reserve of blockchain technology talents in tourism, set up the corresponding regulatory
systems, laws and regulations to implement classified supervision on the application of blockchain technology in tourism, and ac鄄
tively guide the tourism enterprises to reshape their internal network system and organizational structure, so as to meet the chal鄄
lenge of information technology transformation in tourism.
