      Knowledge gatekeepers are very important for keeping the dynamic openness of the industrial clusters because it promotes the beyond-local knowledge transfer of the clusters. The beyond-local knowledge transfer of the clusters includes four kinds of key knowledge flows, and the behaviors of knowledge absorption, knowledge decoding and knowledge diffusion of the gatekeepers will promote formation and development of the four key knowledge flows, and then accelerate the upgrading of the clusters based on knowledge renewal.So we suggest thatthe government should precisely identify the knowledge gatekeepers and effectively cultivate them, and,at the same time, promote its knowledge diffusion to other cluster enterprises and its building of beyond-local knowledge networks. 
