      Since the entry into the 21st century,the economic and social development in Beijing has totally stepped into a period of speedy transformation.The absolute gap in per capita discretionary income has continuously widened among both city residents and rural residents as well as between city residents and rural residents.From various aspects such as the adjustment of economic structure,the reform of economic system,the speedy differentiation in social class,personal experience and family back-ground,this essay probes into the reasons for the widening income gap among Beijing residents in the period of speedy transfor-mation.
